Banjo Fitting on Fuel Filter Not Sealing.. at all!! 700 1987

Well, I decided to change my fuel filter on my day off this afternoon, Everything was going fine until I restarted and checked for leaks, the banjo fitting that connects to the pressure side of the pump is not sealing well at all... a steady drip when the car is idling. Any tips for helping it seal better. I plan to take a file to the sealing surfaces as there is a little bit of rust that has crept onto teh sealing surfaces. any other tips. What is the composition of the 2" fuel line that connects the filer to the pump, I hope I havent damaged that. your quick replies are appreciated. I need to get on the road in a few hours to pick my son up.

Thanks,

Matt
