A/C conversion success; new question anyway 700

Good day to all.

I successfully converted the a/c on my '89 765 tic to r134a, fixing both the muffler and low side fill line joint leaks in the process. We even checked the whole system out with a sniffer to make sure it was tight when done. Seriously cold air coming out now.

Here are the questions:
1. Volvo said put 2.0 lbs in '89 760. I have very close to 2 lbs in, maybe a little low if not spot on. Saw 40/300 lbs low/high with temp selected to max low and fan cranking, car idling in 80 degree ambient. Sound close to normal?

2. Electric fan never came on. Coolant temp never moved off normal spot. My buddy is used to MBs and he's thinking something is wrong. I think the electric fan on these is only tied to coolant temp, therefore as long as coolant doesn't heat up fan won't kick in. If that's right, how does system maintain itself when idling in very high temps without seeing excessive high side pressure?

3. Chris Herbst, do you have OLN? If not, you've still got about a week to get it and see the best of the Tour.

Thanks for any and all replies, as always.
