wagon rear wiper control switch question 200

Hey,

What is the difference between the two positions on the rear wiper switch? I flick it to the right the wiper works, I flick it to the left and the wiper works, no change is speed etc. I put the switch in the middle and it goes off, is one supposed to be intermittant? Ah is one side the washer mode? If so it doesn't go off, or return to the middle position, my washer motor is frozen anyway.

I did however redo all the wiring back there with good results, I bypassed the hinges all together.
