I asked this question a few months ago and got many replies, mostly negative, re: the ability of a 245 to tow a '68 volvo wagon long distances. Well, last month i went down to New Hampshire "bout 300 miles from me through the mountains of Vermont. The trip down was a breeze as I only was towing the dolly. On the way back I could only do 50 mph before it stopped feeling safe, so I motored along hauling that old volvo, and never had to go as low as 2nd even on the steepest hills. The tow dolly actually towed smoother with the weight of the car. The dolly had surge brakes so braking was easy and all in all the car rode better than when I use it to haul a 5' X 10' trailer full of rock. I've been using that old 245 as work car for awhile now and it sure is tough.
