HELP --- Very loud radio static when cooling fan comes on!!!! 700 1988

Am picking up electrical interference on AM stations (that are not a really strong signal) from the electric cooling fan, when it turns on. I am not picking up any engine noise in AM reception--- only from the electric cooling fan. The interference is really strong to the point that I cant really hear the station.When fan cycles off all is well. Any solutions greatly appreciated
