A/C Fault codes 700

1990 760 GLE A/C button on dash flashing 1 2 1 code. Am I right in reading this
"from code list FAQ" as problem with ambient temp sensor on blower housing, short circuit to ground. Can anyone please advise where this short is likly to be? is there a relay involved here or will it be a connection within the climate control unit. Thanks for any help
