Query on brake + tach upgrade 200 1984

A two part question from a newbie. Does anyone know anything about improving braking? Besides replacing pads, calipers etc. are there any reputable performance improvements that fit 240s?
How complicated is swapping in a tach for the big clock on the dash? Is the process described online anywhere? Thanks folks.
