A/C Recharge 200 1987

I have an '87 240 with weak A/C. Decided I need more freon in the system by looking at the sight glass. My question is where do I purchase r-12 freon or
freeze-12, and how hard is it to recharge the system? Are there any special tools needed? Is it a complicated, invovled process? Thanks for your help.
