The floor panel of my 86 240 station wagon is rusting out below the back seat, left side. I am thinking of removing the carpet, screwing down some sheet metal from inside the car. Then cut off old junk from underneath, giving a good coating of undercoating to finish off.

Any other ideas. My children ride in the back of the car, should this be good enough to keep fumes out of car? I would appreciate any tips or ideas. Thanks.
