Any advice greatly appreciated, before I embark on a long road trip with little kids...I am SLOWLY learning about this car's fuel system, thanks to this Board and the FAQ.
After sitting overnight, or more than a few hours, the car cranks and cranks and needs the gas pedal goosed to start. It almost stalls going from reverse to drive, but then it's fine. And runs fine. And restarts fine.
Check valve? Maybe, but where IS the check valve on a Regina one-pump affair? All I can find is the Schraeder valve service port, a foot back from the fuel filter. No check valve anywhere near the fuel filter.
Fuel pump relay? It "clicks" open for 1 or 2 sec's when you turn key to "On." Took it apart; it was pristine, no defects, passed continuity checks. Ran without cover on, could see contacts operating correctly. If bad, why bad only once a day?
Fuel pressure regulator? If bad, why bad only once a day?
Pump itself? Well, is this the sort of pump that will stop running the PRIME routine? I always used to hear the pump go "Bzzzt" for that two seconds when turning key to "On." Don't hear it anymore.
Obviously the pump runs when the car DOES get going...it's the only pump the car has, so if it wasn't pumping well, I wouldn't be driving around all day, right? And therefore, I don't have to be worrying about radio noise suppression, grounds, etc , do I? Or do I? If bad, why bad only once a day?
I don't know what to do (as you may have guessed). But I'm hoping to learn.
Thanks!
