Radiator fan thermal switch temp rating 200

Yep still on the electric fan conversion job.

Got all the bits from a SAAB 9000, made the fan to fit real nice, now I am focusing on the termal switch.

First off I have to say I do not have AC and the main benefit would be the extra space and quieter run.

I have not been able to get an adjustable switch so I plan on using the SAAB fixed rate termal switch. It allows direct wireing which added the the reliability. Origionally it was plummed into the cold side of the SAAB radiator and I was planning to the same using a custom made adapter piece for the radiator hose. Using the cold side makes sense as it directly relates to the efficiency of the radiator.

The thermal switch is rated for 87-92C (189F-198F) I assume this means on rising temp it kicks in at 92C and drops out at 87 ont he way down, giving the fan some time to run.

Although it seems to run on the SAAB, to me 92C water going INTO the engine does sound a bit hot. Assuming maybe 100C (212F) leaving the car that only gives a few degrease rise inside the engine.

Have you guys any idea what the maximum temperatur of the ingoing water should be. I can get a different thermal switch.

Reg,

Jorn
