I've now driven the car a few times with the new shocks and it was clear the old ones were towards the end of their lives. I had no visible signs of failure, other than ride, so I decided why not enjoy the next 100K instead of waiting for it to go south.
The new ones work very competently. No busy chatter, but a nice feeling of control with little bounce. Nothing transmitted through the steering. Of course, they didn't fix the Baltimore streets, but definitely improved the ride.
The Gas Turbo are fine, and certainly not too harsh at all. I now wonder about the Pro Gas....if they would have been really that stiff. Guess I won't know! The Nivos are very nice, making the rear seat much more palatable. Will have to see how they respond to loads.
