Again, I realize this isn't the S80 forum, but it took a month for my last post over there to get decent responses, and I always seem to have good response in this forum.
Well, I have been reseraching and test driving for several weeks now, and despite the horror stories, I am getting pretty close to making an S80 T6 purchasing decision. I looked at and compared to MB E320, and about the only places the E320 wins out is exterior styling and projected reliability, and maybe ride quality (still not sure on ride quality).
My local Volvo dealer has a 99 T6 with 35K miles, reminder of warranty for $25K. I do a lot of interstate driving for work, and the power and interior comfort are top-notch. I have heard of problems with these cars, but I figure that after 35K miles, and having 2+ years/65,000 miles left on warranty I should be covered.
There were a few things I was going to have dealer do before I bought this car. Given some of the tranny issues I have heard about, does anyone see any benefit to having dealer do the BG power transmission flush service, and replace ATF with Mobil 1 ATF? I have used this in my AW71 trannies for years with outstanding results.
Also, if anyone wants to point out ANY S80 gotchas that I might find helpful, please feel free.
