960 cooling system flush? 900 1994

I'm about to flush our 965s cooling system. I'm going to install a new thermostat, temp sender, and use Dexcool/distilled water. Where is the block plug and do I need to remove the exhaust heat shield to access. I have read the FAQ but did not see any specifics on flushing. I did notice that someone only recommended Volvo Type C coolant and frequent changes. Thanks.
