OBD box, can not find Help 700

Have read all the FAQ several times regarding the OBD box and its use. Trouble is I can't find the **** thing. Checked behind the drivers strut tower. All that is present is 1 large grey plug and 1 smaller grey plug. These both appear to be regular electrical connectors and are both connected. Checked the other tower and the same connectors are present there, under the coil. The car is 1989 740t and from what I have read supposed to have OBD. Is it possible to re-locate them? What does it look like? Is it possible that the car does not have OBD?

Addition to post
Would it be possible for the previous owner to have removed OBD box? Found a grey 3 prong connector (female side) behind the power steering fluid reservoir.
