Strut Installation Faux Pas and the Orange Rubber Thingy Saga 700 1991

Need confidence in my decision or a kick in the arse, whichever is appropriate. I recently replaced my front suspension with Sachs Advantage (Boge Turbo equals), new ball joints, tie rod ends, poly bushings, yada, yada. During the process I came to fine out that the dust boots covering the strut are being held together with undercoating.

I was:
a) Unaware the strut did not come with new dust boots.
b) Unaware that the dust boots are attached to an orange rubber thingy
(like the technical term?) that is pressed into the top of the strut
housing. The orange rubber thingy is pliable and appears to be in
good shape.

I proceeded with the installation.

Cannot find anything in the FAQs. Can not find an orange rubber thingy vendor on the web. I guess if I knew the actual name of the item I would have more luck. Do I need get new parts, disassemble the strut assemblies and install new orange rubber thingies?

The car handles great with the new suspension however; I care not to court danger over the absence of new orange rubber thingies.

P.S.

Foster.....Have a ball with this one. I wrote it in all seriousness, but with you in mind ;0)
