240 high reving after start 200 1993

Hi,

Would anyone know why, a short while after starting, my car revs very high. It used to start perfectly, rev a little higher at start then settle down. Now it starts at low revs, runs rough a little while, peaks up the revs to about 2500RPM for a second or two then dies down again to about 1000RPM idle. Most of the symptoms have been there for a while but it also just had a set of valve stem seals replaced. It is a 1993 240 with B230FX Motor with Bosch everything.

Your advice is greatly appreciate.
