I’m pulling the head from my son’s 1981 B21F (265k mi.) because of a stripped spark plug hole (the thread insert stripped too). In removing the intake manifold, I noted a coating of black, greasy, deposits in the manifold runners and intake ports. Ditto the intake valves and injector tubes. There was also an oily film coating the air flow measuring valve down inside the big rubber boot that connects it to the manifold. Wondering if this is normal, or do I have a problem with something (such as the PCV system)?
