I have always owned 240's. A friend of the family has an 86 740 Turbo wagon he wants to sell me cheap for $1400. They have owned it for over 10 years and it was fairly well maintained. The body is rust free and it has less than 130,000 miles on it. HERE'S THE CATCH. When the car was sitting while their daughter was out at college it was broken into. The thief (or thieves most probably) broke the window and took the steering wheel, as well as: all of the power window switches, stereo, center caps, glove box door, fuel filler door, front grill, turn signals and bezels. The sunroof headliner was ripped out too. He said he colud give me a wrecked 740 for parts, but I havn't seen that one yet.
Probably does not have a good front end on it. At least it doesn't have IRS or Nivomats and that is a plus because the rear seems a little too bouncy (parked) It obviously can't be driven. Should I pass on this one, or make a low offer of about $800.
