How can you tell whether Regina fuel pump is going bad? 700 1991

Hi,

I have a 1991 745 135K with an intermittent starting problem, I've changed fuel relay, plugs and rotor look OK. Is there a way to test whether Regina fuel pump is wearing out. Almost once a day I have to squirk some starter fluid in the intake manifold to get the car started otherwise it starts and drives like a dream.
