O.K. to run car with electrical connector to Throttle Position Sensor disconnected? 200

Getting some sputtering, surging, and stalling during startup. Disconnect electrical sensor from TPS. Car runs O.K. without. Is it O.K. to leave disconnected? Does this affect gas mileage?
