manual heater controls..totally different to Faq/Haynes...adjustment & ac 900

Hi guys,

ok my 940 is definately weird..and i do mean strange.

trying to fix aftermarket ac added by a previous owner..using mainly volvo stuff..ish..

got working compressor, hot high dide outlet, warm (not hot, just not cold) return pipe..could be charge state..but could also be aircon fighting heater not turning off properly..so went looking...rmembering stuff in faq about this and about vacume motors etc...

ok...tooks dash/centre consul apart (ish) and i definately have air distribution/temperature controlled by CABLES...airdistribution bby 1 cable drive from a cam, heater by two cables in push/pull arrangement all OEM stuff..
no apppreciable way to adjust cables on heater flap..

questions:

1. why have i never heard of this arrangement before?
2. how the ....bleep....do i check the adjustment/adjust it
3. anyone got any other ideas for stuff to check while i take the dash apart...again.....
4. is this car a figment of my imagination cos every time i go to do something on it...it just isnt like the manuals/faq/dealers advice/shop advice...grrr

btw 91 940 2.3 turbo
