license plate light replacement 200

Hi
Looked over the archives and haven't found the answer to this stumper:

The old black license plate light bulb holder have degraded so that I purchased replacements. But I can't physically figure out how they install. The new ones have a half-moon shape light cover and the old (stock) have a full rectangular light cover. So: how do I fit these in?
