OK, so how else to spend a soggy Labor Day weekend, but by doing the basic 100K stuff on the kid's 'new' 244... shocks, struts, brakes, filters - and timing belt. This is our first 240 with an automatic, so to get the crank nut off I used the 'rope trick' detailed here on the BB so many times before. Amazing in its simplicity... I seriously was laughing my head off when the nut came off as advertised! Many thanks to the 'inventor' (Don Foster?) and others who have promted its use.
