I went to Tampa this weekend, as I live in Atlanta. On the way down I stopped after driving for about two hours at 70mph I stopped at a rest area to check the car and take a walking break. I opened the hood and noticed that my manifold was glowing were the four pipes come together before it opens into the turbo. It was very dark out so it was easy to see. The turbo was not glowing half as much as that spot on the manifold. Is this normal because of the heat generated at the manifold? My car is a 1991 745 turbo SE. It seemed to be running great accept that I only get about 250miles to the tank. Any suggestions. Could it be possible that my cat is plugged causing the heat and the bad gas milage. I do notice that when doing 70mph on the highway my boost gauge stays at about the 11 o'clock position and giving it a little gas to hold speed going up a hill it goes into boost at about the 1 o'clock position. I have never owned a turbo volvo before this one that I got in may. Thanks for any help as I am used to problems on the NA versions!!
