'94 960: A/C cuts out when accelerating 900

I'm having a problem where my A/C cuts out when I accelerate. It also doesn't seem to blow as cold as it used to, but it's still cool. The first priority is the intermittent A/C. Someone in another thread said something about checking the vacuum system, but nothing beyond that.

Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for? I'm hoping this is a common and easily remedied malady (even for the mechanically stupid, like myself!).
