What engine does a 1992 Volvo GL have?

I am looking for a car to replace our 91 240 that was wrecked. There is a 92 Volvo 940 GL for sale down the road (5500 looks like a good deal). The engine looks like the B230 but I know the 940s had the B234 which I don't want because of the interference issues.
