I have replaced my 240 blower motor! (sarcastic applause and sympathetic nodding)
I didn't find out about the Don Foster method until I'd already pulled everything apart as per Bentley. I didn't fully do the Benstein procedure either; I managed to get the fan shrouds off by just loosening the center console but not removing it. I also didn't remove the door/dash ducting, floor ducts, gauge pod, vacuum balls, radio or seats. The glove box did have to come out.
I had to R&R the left inner fan shroud TWICE because I didn't grind off the entire mounting bosses the 1st time (only the smaller bump) - doh!
I actually don't recommend taking the shortcuts I did. I'd do it again because that is my style, but it makes for some very trying moments, especially during reassembly. Thank goodness Volvo plastic is high quality and withstands some abuse.
I had 2 mysterious screws left over when I was done: the same type used to secure the center console frame to the dash frame. Oh well - everything seems solid.
Of course, now the left rear taillight is out. Brake and blinker work, just not the bottom lamp and it's not the bulb. Wonder if I f---ed up some wiring. Time to get out the multimeter.
No, I will not come over and help you do yours! But I will hold your beer and tell dirty jokes, (you'll probably be using some un-genteel language yourself).
