Repair plan for exhaust pipe leak 900

I have a slight leak in the exhaust pipe that is coming from the joint. It's the joint on the pipes that join from the pipe coming from the cat.conv. into the one that goes to the muffler. Since it is right at the joint and there is no hole involved. Would it work to rmove the old clamp(probably cut it off with a Dremel) and then install and tighten down a new clamp?
