Need glass expert 200

I am about 80% complete on the things to bring my '83 back to "nearly new" and am alarmed to see evidence of leaking around my windshield and rear side glass of my wagon. (especially after all of my rust repair and painting done last winter) My question is this: I thought that water could get in only where the gasket meets the glass (this looks very tight on my car) can water get in through where the metal trim fits. I have some obvious gaps there, but I thought that slice was a "dead-end" for water.
