200 series model explanation 200

I recently joined the Volvo ranks by purchasing a 84 wagon (245 I think). Can anyone explain to me the numbering system for the 200 series cars? Also the differences in DL, GL, GLE, etc. To add to my confusion, the car is titled as a model code "4DG". The car has no emblems or badges that identify it. Just want to be prepared if/when I need to order parts so I know what to tell parts people.
