Fuel Injection System Disassembly & Cleaning 200 1980

I am rebuilding my 1980 Volvo 240, B21F and am starting the disassembly of the fuel injection system. Should every nut and bolt on this part of my disassembly be removed and cleaned or is it necessary to go to that extreme? Should the fuel distributor, regulator, etc. be dissassembled and thoroughly cleaned? My only fear is that I will ruin gaskets and small parts that may be hard or expensive to replace.
