X-country trip problems 200

On my trip from PA to Oregon I had to stop in Colorado because my '87 240 is not shifting into fourth gear on the automatic transmission. I just had the transmission serviced before I left...also had a new temp. board put in the dash and the temp gauge worked fine for 500 miles, and then it got stuck on hot. However, the car seems to be running cool. Just flushed the system before I left.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

I am in Greeley, Colorado.
