play in steering rack 900

Hello all and thanks in advance
My fiance's 94 944- b230
She hit a brick (ceramic block, not volvo) about 2 months ago and her front end hasn't been right since.
I just put control arm stay bushings in it. I noticed that on the right side where she hit the brick there is play in the steering rack. with the car on the jackstand the wheel is very 'loose'. I can easilly move it right to left.
there is no play in the ball joint or the tie rod end. It travels all the way into the rack. The Left side is not like this. If she needs a rack how much do they cost? What does it take to put one in? They control arm stay bushings were a bit of a challenge but not too bad once the proper tools were acquired.
