timing belt tensioner - the spring has become a little too independent 200

Ahh, a stupid question. I was pulling off the tensioner when it came apart on me. Is there a clip (which I have lost?) that connects the spring to the tensioner (I don't remember!) or does the spring end 'thread' into the hole of the tensioner? If it does thread in, how the hell do you get it back in? I hate when these kinds of things happen...

Any help, as always, is very much appreciated. Thank you. ben
