Longevity of auto trans 700

Hi guys...

Could you knowledeable people give me some indication of how long an AW71 should generally last.

I purchased my brick as a japanese import with supposedley 48k kilometres on the clock.

After being removed from the car for inspection it has been established that the trans is absolutely worn out, as advised by a trusted mechanic.

The obvious implication is that the the car has done excessively more miles than claimed by the dealer, the only other exlanation being that it spent the first 13 years of its life overheating in Tokyo traffic jams.

Any help appreciated, it is going to cost NZD1900 to recondition, I may try and gain some recompense from the dealer.

Cheers Mike.
