Hello. I have a 1986 Volvo 244 with almost 200 thousand miles on it. Here is the problem I have been having: It starts up with no problems, it drives fine at first, then after about 30 min to 1 hour of driving it will start to lose power, like it isn't getting fuel, ONLY when accelerating, like if I have to slow down for a red light or for any other reason, at idle it rarely does this. If I am driving on the highway it will run fine. It will only stall out on me a little at first but after 5 minutes it gets much worse. Finally, it stalls out so bad it dies completely. I don't know if this will mean anything but after I try to crank it back up it WILL start back up, but if I just slightly press the accelerator it dies, then I cannot restart it anymore and the car cannot be moved. This has happened to me twice on the road, and it is very frustrating. I have to let it set there for usually 30 minutes or more then it starts up fine like nothing ever happened, which leads me to believe this may be a heat issue, but by the time I get home it is wanting to die on me again. I have changed the cold start sensor, fuel filter, checked the fuses(in dash and the one by the batt.), checked the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump under the drivers side rear door, and had a local mechanic install a new AMM and air box sensor. A friend of mine said it might be vapor lock, I will check into this. I have had all kinds of problems getting this thing dependable, but I believe this is the last one, I just can't figure out the problem. Like everyone else, I need to have a dependable car for my job. I don't want to sell it but I can't afford it to break down on me going to work. If you have any suggestions on what I should do please post what you think or email me at BudJr8@midsouth.rr.com
Thanks!!!
