I have a 1986 240 dl with ventilated rotors in the front. I can get for next to nothing good OEM rotors from a wrecked 1984 240dl with only surface rust.Is it possible to install the non-ventilated rotors from the 1984 on the 1986 without replacing the calipers as well but instead using spacers to make up for the fact that the non-ventilated rotor is not as thick overall as the ventilated one. I have well worn out brake pads that could serve as spacers once I chisel off the remnant of friction material. The brake pads on both cars seem to be of the same type. I have tried to disconnect the brake lines from the current wider calipers but have not been able to do so.
Does any one foresee any problem with the substitution
Will there be a marked difference in performance between my old ventilated rotors and near new unventilated ones. This car is not driven in hot climates
