has anyone ever replaced their A/C switch? 200

my AC switch is VERY hard to turn, especially when turning off...

I got one that turns easily from the pick and pull but I noticed it has a long bendable metal wire from it to somewhere in behind the dash...?

Is it possible to replace the switch and somehow connect it to the existing long bendable metal wire?
