Hi, I have an `86 760 GLE with the PRV V6. It has 276,000 kms on it. Just recently, the in-tank fuel pump died after the fuel filter had been replaced. Replaced said fuel pump and did a minor tune-up (new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor). Couldn't get the car to run on its own after doing this, so took it to my friend's shop (they don't normally work on foreign cars). Two wires were crossed and the distributor had not been "indexed" correctly in the past. They said the timing chain is fine as is compression. Anyways, they advanced the timing 20 degrees to get it to run. I have to give it gas when either idling or when coasting down from speed, it will stall if I don't. There is also a dead spot or hesitation when you jab the throttle.
I'd like to get the car running like it was before this all happened, as it was fine before. What could the problem be? I'd like to hang on to the car for winter driving and just being a daily driver. Any help would be most appreciated! My e-mail is igrocky@hotmail.com if you have any suggestions.
