Aftermarket stereo w/ stock EQ??? 700

The stereo in my 780 needs to be replaced. However, I'd like to keep the EQ hooked up. It's been a while since I've messed w/ a 700 series stereo but I seem to recall that the cable that runs between the stereo and eq has some kind of odd connection which Im sure an aftermarket stereo isn't going to have. Ideas?
