Electrical weirdness (rear defroster switch) 200 1990

My rear defroster switch/light won't go off. Comes on when the car is running. What's really strange is that when the car is off, and I push the brake down hard, I hear a click and the switch/light comes on! I haven't pulled the knee bolster and looked up under the dash yet, but does the rear defog circuit run near the brake pedal?
