ECT code fault 1-2-3, but car runs fine... 900

Finally got around to checking the code computer on my 1995 940 Turbo.

It gives the absent or faulty ECT code 1-2-3 in the FI readout and the matching code 2-2-4 (for faulty ECT) in the ignition readout test.

Only thing is that the car seems to run just fine.

I'm planning on replacing it... but wondering what's up? I've cleared the code, removed the connector and brushed the prongs with a wire brush and generally fiddled with the wiring. Still the same code... and no real symptoms or problems at all in running.

Also... another question. How in blazes does one remove the electric connector from the temperature gauge sensor? (under #3... forward from the ECT) Mine is apparently welded on to the plastic connector on the sensor... and seems like it'd break before it comes free. Can I use some kind of spray on penetrating solvent to dislodge the two plastic connectors? Is there some trick to squeezing it or pushing it in or something?

Thanks in advance....
