I'm hearing a familiar light-sounding rattling noise coming from the cat converter area. The last time I heard this sound I was told that the cat was going bad, so I had it replaced. Maybe it's time again.
Also, the RPMs drop to near-stalling whenever I engage the clutch as I cruise to a stop. The car compensates by reving the engine once or twice before coming to a normal idle.
My question is could the two be related? If not, I suppose some controller is going bad (hopefully not the AMM again).
Also, if I do need a new cat, should I go for aftermarket (don't really trust the know-it-alls at my local Midas or Tuffy muffler shop) or pay for a Volvo kitty? (time to mortgage the house again).
