window winding mechanism 700 1989

Greetings from Australia. The front window winding mechanism on my 89 740 GL has failed. Itz electric too BTW. My local parts man claims that I have to buy an asssembly c/w electric motor priced about the same as the National debt of Brazil. Does anyone know if the actual mechanism can be bought less motor?
Also is the rear window winder same as the front?
