Interior leak 200 1987

It rained the other night and when I got into my new 1987 240 wagon the interior was soaked on the drivers side only, worse in front of the seat then behind it. Later that day I removed the interior to ge tthe carpet out before it started to stink. The car is now put back together, minus the carpet, and I still haven't found the leak. My question is, is this a regular occurance and how do I make it stop? Is this becasue I left the vent open? The "trail of water" didn't seem to come from there. Please help.

As a bonus question, a new light appeared on my dash, all I have is a repair manual, not the owners manual. The light is on the far right side of the dash display with the speedo and stuff and it's an up arrow. At first I thought it was telling me to shift but that didn't appear to be it. Any guesses?
