OK,

I am going to R&R the Starter. Looked at the 7xx/9xx FAQ and it seems very simple other than getting to the #$@% thing. What else is there, aligment of the unit to the engine/ring gear(??).

Also, where is the starter Solenoid? Mine seems to have passed away.

History of the problem.

1)Starter not engaging after running fine the other day.
2)Checked all fuses, visually, and grounds, R&R/sanded and battery terms
3)Checked starter connections, removed and sanded.

Unknowns-Starter, not sure if it is bad, but want to test as per FAQ- + voltage to 'little' wire to see if it engages(is this ok?) AND security system. I have no idea how to take this out of the picture without killing the engine. I did diconnect the main power to it, but think that all this did was nothing-i.e. if de-powered the enginge wont start anyway..

SO, need to get the car going again and think it is the starter, so going to R&R it. Any tips/trick etc are greatly appreciated.
