malfunctioning AC 900 1992

CAr Model: 960-1992; I have been experiencing a problem with my AC. The problem is that when the car takes off the AC stops working until the car reaches certain speed. Then, it keeps going off and on by itself. It is really anoying. Can somebody tell me why this is happening?
