240 air filter, fuel gauge, and engine temp gauge

I just purchased a 1985 240 wagon and found a myriad of problems ...
1. fuel and engine temp gauges aren't working ...is this an easy fix?
2. The air filter was hose was not conected to the airflow unit....what kind of damage could this hav done to the fuel injection if driven this way for a while ...
3. when I start her up I get a thunk ....I saw an article that said to replace the bushings ....Do I replace the front bushings or the back ones

Thanks for you insight
