broken shift lever 200 1976

Does anyone have experience repairing broken shift levers? I have the M46 transmission, the lever with a bend above the ball and the detent plate for reverse. The lever is broken above the ball. Im wondering if this can be welded, as Volvo no longer makes this part. I imagine the bend is critical for keeping the lever lined up correctly. Does anyone else make this part? Any thoughts? Thanks.
